Optum Patient Access Director Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and direct patient access leaders and staff to achieve performance standards and metrics.
  • Motivate staff to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction and meet organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement processes and initiatives to improve Revenue Cycle performance.
  • Provide department and client-level oversight for the development of processes and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with senior internal and external leadership to develop and roll out related policies and procedures.
  • Participate in team-level Quality Assurance, Patient Satisfaction, Employee Engagement, and Process Improvement activities.
  • Develop relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with expert knowledge of Patient Access processes and best practices.
  • Provide staff training and mentoring to promote growth and development.
  • Manage financial and personnel aspects of assigned areas.
  • Communicate with client executives, leaders, physicians, and organizational associates regarding Patient Access requirements and success.
  • Prepare reports using statistically sound information and escalate unfavorable trends to senior leadership.
Requirements:
  • 4+ years of experience as a Patient Access Manager or Director in an acute hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Certification within Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and/or the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM).
  • Experience leading or participating in large Patient Access-related IT implementations.
  • Experience with major Patient Access technologies currently in use.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to multitask, produce rapid turnaround, and effectively manage multiple projects.
