Senior Oncology Veterinary Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Oncology Veterinary Technician to join our Radiation Oncology team at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional cancer care to canine and feline patients, working closely with our experienced oncologists to deliver high-quality treatment and support to our patients and their owners.
Responsibilities- Provide technical assistance to veterinary medical and research staff in delivering cancer care, including medicine, surgery, and radiology to patient-owned animals.
- Assist in the management and post-treatment care of enrolled patients, helping their recovery and ensuring a smooth patient discharge process.
- Collaborate closely with the radiation oncology team to provide comprehensive care, including chemotherapy administration, radiation therapy, and diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Educate and support pet owners in understanding and managing their pet's cancer diagnosis, providing clear explanations of diagnostics and procedures performed on their pets.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives and foster close collaboration with medical doctors to drive advancements in veterinary care.
- High School diploma or equivalent, and five (5) years' experience working with animals in a clinical or research setting or in a veterinary practice setting, including experience working in a veterinary oncology setting.
- Completion of a veterinary technology program or equivalent.
- Credentialed Veterinary Technician preferred.
