The RN is responsible for:

  • Building and maintaining therapeutic relationships with patients and families, integrating cultural and diversity considerations into practice.

  • Respecting patients' values, preferences, and expressed needs throughout the healthcare process.

  • 1. STANDARDS OF PRACTICE: RN practice is guided by the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, which outline a competent level of nursing care through the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN is responsible for collecting relevant data, analyzing it to determine diagnoses, identifying expected outcomes, developing care plans, implementing strategies, coordinating care, promoting health, and evaluating progress.
  • 2. STANDARDS OF PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE: The ANA Standards of Professional Performance define the expected behaviors in the professional role, encompassing ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality of practice, professional evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN is accountable for their professional actions and is expected to engage in leadership activities appropriate to their role.
Qualifications

EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required, with a BSN preferred. All newly hired RNs must possess current BCLS certification or obtain it within one month of hire.

EXPERIENCE:
The Registered Nurse role serves as the foundational description for all RNs, with encouragement to advance through the SPIRE clinical advancement program.

LICENSURE:
Candidates must be licensed and currently registered as a nurse in the State of Connecticut, with clinical specialty certification highly encouraged.

SPECIAL SKILLS:
The Registered Nurse role serves as the foundational description for all RNs, with encouragement to advance through the SPIRE clinical advancement program.

PHYSICAL DEMAND:
The position requires prolonged standing and walking, along with the use of sight, hearing, and touch. Exposure to infectious diseases and various physical, mental, and emotional conditions is expected. The RN must be capable of assisting with the movement of patients weighing between five (5) and three hundred (300) pounds.
