Job Summary

Booker T. Washington Academy is seeking a compassionate and qualified Registered Nurse to oversee our LPN and provide healthcare services and promote health education within our school community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Healthcare Services
    • Provide basic first aid and medical care to students and staff as needed.
    • Administer medications and monitor students with chronic conditions.
    • Respond to emergency situations and provide appropriate care.
  • Health Assessment and Record-Keeping
    • Conduct health screenings (e.g., vision, hearing) and assessments.
    • Maintain up-to-date health records and documentation for all students.
    • Monitor immunization records and communicate with parents regarding health needs.
  • Health Education and Promotion
    • Develop and implement health education programs for students, staff, and parents.
    • Provide counseling and guidance on health-related issues.
    • Promote healthy lifestyles and preventive care among students.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop care plans for students with special needs.
    • Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and healthcare providers.
    • Participate in meetings and committees related to student health and wellness.
  • Compliance and Safety
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal health regulations and school policies.
    • Manage and maintain a safe and sanitary health office environment.
    • Develop and update emergency response plans and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in pediatric or school nursing is preferred.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
