Overview:


POSITION SUMMARY:


This role is responsible for leading the Quality Division at the designated healthcare facility and the Infection Control Team for the healthcare system.

The individual will be tasked with strategizing, developing, executing, and assessing the comprehensive Infection Control Strategy and Program.

Encourages and nurtures a culture of ongoing enhancement and coordinates the systematic application of effective methodologies aimed at minimizing errors and enhancing patient outcomes throughout the organization.


Collaborates effectively with leadership, management, medical personnel, and interdisciplinary teams across the organization to formulate and execute strategies to reduce infection rates among patients.

Provides daily oversight of the program, which includes personnel management, resource allocation, project oversight, process evaluation, data analysis, and ongoing regulatory compliance.


Accountable for conducting and assisting with training initiatives related to infection control and prevention, formulating policies, and executing performance enhancement measures that ensure compliance with infection control standards set by relevant regulatory bodies.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing or a related healthcare discipline is required. Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based practices related to infection control, data analysis, and project management is essential.

At least two (2) years of supervisory experience is mandatory. A master's degree in a healthcare-related field is highly preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrates understanding and integration of the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in all actions and decisions. Organizes data from health records for specialized studies, projects, and initiatives. Remains informed about CMS regulations and updates. Provides training for facility staff as it pertains to the responsibilities of the position.


In collaboration with the local Quality Council, conducts an annual review and recommends necessary revisions to the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Plan.

Assesses existing performance improvement activities at their assigned location, identifies needs, and maintains a continuous inventory of activities through the Quality Council agenda/minutes.

Assists in the execution of activities in accordance with the QAPI Plan. Offers educational and technical support to departments or committees as it pertains to the responsibilities of the position. Stays current with medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations.

Facilitates organization-wide understanding and adherence to TJC standards. Initiates and collaborates with interdisciplinary leadership to develop performance improvement projects focused on infection prevention and reduction.

Encourages and supports staff participation in the performance improvement program at their assigned location and, for infection prevention and reduction, throughout the healthcare system.

Acts as a resource for staff in developing performance improvement project ideas. Inspires staff to engage actively in planning, developing, and evaluating performance improvement projects. Maintains an environment that fosters a culture of safety and minimizes medical errors. Ensures systematic monitoring of patients to identify hospital-acquired infections through established criteria. Maintains or delegates the upkeep of databases related to monitoring and process/outcome metrics. Analyzes, presents, and communicates infection prevention data to leadership throughout the healthcare system.


Provides guidance on standards interpretation and implementation to hospital departments to ensure the safety of healthcare services concerning infection control.

Participates as a member or consultant in organizational decision-making, including the formulation of policies and procedures that impact patient care delivery.

Exhibits the ability to collaborate effectively with professional and support personnel across the medical centers to promote safety concerning infection control.

Maintains up-to-date knowledge of evidence-based practices related to infection prevention and control.

Identifies opportunities for performance enhancement or research in the field of infection prevention and control and leads or participates in performance improvement teams as appropriate.

Recommends modifications in clinical practices based on current concepts and findings from regulatory and accrediting agencies, professional practice guidelines, and other research or studies related to infection prevention.

Possesses knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines that influence infection control practices.

Familiarity with infection control requirements from relevant regulatory bodies and the ability to interpret them in clinical settings is essential. Must be highly motivated and self-directed. Capable of gathering data and making informed, mature decisions. Strong communication skills are a must. Ability to perform under pressure with time constraints is required.
