Job Overview:

The Idaho State Department of Agriculture is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Hops Field Inspector within the Bureau of Food Safety, Hemp, and Hops. This temporary position involves conducting inspections and sampling in the hops industry to ensure compliance with agricultural standards.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Acquire necessary licenses through USDA/AMA/FGIS.
  • Prepare and maintain sampling equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper functionality.
  • Conduct routine sampling of hops, adhering to established sampling protocols.
  • Ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and chain of custody for all samples collected.
  • Complete necessary paperwork on-site and ensure thorough data entry.
  • Provide excellent customer service as required.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must demonstrate the following abilities and skills:

  • Physical capability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and humidity.
  • Capacity to lift and carry samples weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, squat, twist, and reach as necessary.

Additional Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain a sampling license through USDA/AMA/FGIS.
