Key Responsibilities:- Reads, records, and inspects heating, plumbing, refrigeration, and HVAC systems, including high-pressure steam boilers, chillers, compressors, pumps, motors, electric and pneumatic controls, water storage tanks, dumps, drains, etc.
- Performs preventative maintenance on systems and equipment, such as high-pressure steam boilers, air conditioning systems, large and small package units, ice machines, compressors, pumps, motors, fans, air units, emergency lights, generators, etc.
- Responds to emergency calls, such as loss of power, steam, water, heat, ice, and snow, by operating all appropriate emergency equipment, including emergency generators, electric power transfer switches, high-pressure steam boilers, water systems, etc.
- Diagnoses and rectifies problems within the physical plant, such as loss of heat, loss of hot water, power outage, loud noises, hot bearing, units overheating, broken belts, jammed controls, etc.
- Notifies authorized personnel of impending problems or major equipment or system failures that require specialized repair.
- Starts, stops, and operates all equipment according to established procedures and criteria.
- Supervises and directs the work of one or more assigned Boiler Plant Operators, performs training as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Third-class engineer license or higher required
- Four years of technical experience with electromechanical equipment and systems
- Three years of experience in the operations, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems similar to those used in facilities
- Previous supervisory experience
