Job Title: School Nurse 1:1 Substitute

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate School Nurse 1:1 Substitute to join our team at the Stoughton Area School District.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will work one-on-one with a student with complex medical conditions, providing support and care in the school environment, including on school transportation and sponsored field trips/activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with school personnel to ensure the student's health needs are met, creating a supportive learning environment.
  • Assume responsibility for ongoing professional development and continuing education, contributing to the growth of others through in-service and health education activities.
  • Provide physical, educational, and personal support to the student, including assessment and intervention of complex health and medical needs.
  • Coordinate the student's educational program, implementing lesson plans and making decisions about medical, educational, and personal priorities.
  • Commit to integration efforts and provide emergency care as needed, notifying appropriate personnel.
  • Administer medications and perform nursing procedures as required.
  • Assist the student in specialized physical education and other related activities.
  • Maintain the student's physical environment, including setting up, cleaning, and sorting supplies and equipment.
  • Follow district and health services guidelines and emergency protocols.
Requirements:
  • LPN or RN in good standing in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Experience in child healthcare or previous school nurse experience, with prior experience working with children with complex medical conditions.
  • Familiarity with the Nurse Practice Act and relevant legislation.
  • Current CPR and First Aid or BLS certification.
  • Tracheostomy certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work and interact effectively with others, independently organizing and managing time and resources.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations professionally and maintain patient confidentiality.
Work Environment:

This role primarily operates in a professional indoor environment, with occasional outdoor responsibilities.
