The Senior Psychiatric Nursing Assistant IV (PNA Team Lead) is responsible for delivering advanced rehabilitative patient care services under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) in an inpatient psychiatric setting.

This role involves coordinating health and personal care services for patients, as well as guiding staff on hospital protocols and policies.

As a vital member of the recovery or admissions team, you will provide supportive communication and documentation regarding patient behaviors and progress towards their recovery goals.

You will actively participate in shift reporting and team meetings, working with a degree of independence and initiative.


**Key Responsibilities:**

- Regular attendance and flexibility to work various shifts, including rotating schedules and overtime as needed.

- As the Team Lead, you will direct other PNAs in maintaining therapeutic interactions with patients to foster social skills and promote progress towards a less restrictive environment.

- Utilize effective communication skills to engage patients in their recovery journey.

- Oversee a peaceful environment during night shifts to support patient rest.

- During admissions, assign tasks to PNAs, such as taking vital signs and explaining patient rights.

- Monitor patients for signs of illness or medication reactions, coordinating care as directed by the RN.

- Document patient progress and share insights with the recovery team to enhance treatment support.

- Instruct other PNAs on patient care procedures and assist in their training.

- Promote safety through vigilant monitoring and proactive engagement with patients.

- Participate in crisis intervention and provide guidance on de-escalation techniques.

- Serve as a mentor for new staff, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities.

- Engage in unit committees and performance improvement initiatives as assigned.


**Essential Skills and Qualifications:**

  • Proficient in CAPPS, CARE, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Understanding of patient care techniques and recovery programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Capacity to train and guide others effectively.
  • Ability to provide first aid and CPR as necessary.
