Key Responsibilities
The Vice President, Chief Pharmacy Officer (CPO) will spearhead the strategic planning, development, execution, and administrative leadership of pharmacy programs and services throughout ProMedica. This role is essential in managing pharmacy fiscal responsibilities, drug utilization strategies, and supply chain operations.
The CPO will collaborate with executive and senior leadership to pinpoint new opportunities within the pharmacy sector that align with ProMedica's strategic objectives.
Operational Excellence
The focus will be on the implementation of pharmacy operational practices and clinical care models to ensure superior quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and financial performance.
Accountabilities
1. Lead and synchronize all pharmacy services across the organization to achieve operational excellence and financial success.
2. Ensure effective integration and standardization of services.
3. Oversee all pharmacy operations and patient care services, including supply chain management, consolidated services, business development, and educational initiatives.
4. Establish and maintain a strategic plan for the pharmacy enterprise, developing tactical initiatives to meet that plan and measuring performance against strategic goals.
5. Communicate pharmacy strategies, results, and outcomes to leadership and the pharmacy team.
6. Provide financial oversight, identifying initiatives to enhance revenue and reduce costs, while managing operating and capital budgets in collaboration with the Finance department.
7. Monitor and analyze financial data to inform decision-making.
8. Cultivate a robust pharmacy workforce to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of patient care.
9. Ensure the delivery of high-value service standards across the pharmacy service line.
10. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy; Master's degree in a health-related field or business administration.
Experience:
10 years of progressively responsible senior leadership experience in health-system pharmacy. Proven track record in strategy development and achieving measurable results. Demonstrated ability to mentor and elevate team performance. Eligibility to practice as a pharmacist in Michigan or Ohio.
Skills:
Proven leadership in overseeing transformational changes from innovation to implementation, collaborating effectively across diverse stakeholder groups to create sustained value. Strong strategic and business acumen in pharmacy practice, including financial management skills with experience in large budget oversight. Successful history of leading projects to enhance efficiency, quality, safety, and service levels in complex environments. Extensive knowledge of medication safety protocols and contemporary pharmacy service trends. Ability to articulate and implement a strategic vision for pharmacy services, recruit and retain skilled professionals, and foster collaboration with physicians, nurses, and health system executives.
Demonstrated executive presence, emotional intelligence, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
Experience:
Residency training in health system pharmacy administration. Eligibility to practice as a pharmacist in both Michigan and Ohio.
Working Conditions
Personal Protective Equipment as required by facility standards. Moderate physical demands including walking, climbing, lifting, and bending. Potential for virtual assignments.
