POSITION SUMMARY: The Media Coordinator role is dedicated to supporting military training operations through effective media production and coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive assistance to the Chief of the Plans & Training Branch, including the development and production of simulated broadcast news style video and print materials tailored for military training scenarios.
  • Facilitate the transportation of necessary equipment to various training sites within the Pacific Command region.
  • Act as a simulated media representative to enhance training objectives and outcomes.
  • Participate in training sessions and essential events to gain insights into scenario development throughout military exercises.
  • Play a pivotal role in shaping media products, ensuring they meet review standards, and assist in coordinating with Public Affairs for mock media engagements and interviews.
  • Security Clearance Requirement: Secret.
  • Supervisor: Chief of Plans and Training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Must be capable of independent travel to various events within the Pacific Command, averaging one trip monthly for durations ranging from 3 to 14 days.
  • Self-motivation is crucial, along with the ability to handle and operate laptop and A/V equipment.
  • A strong understanding of the media's role in military operations is necessary, along with being an active listener and collaborative team member.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for extended periods.

Selected candidates will undergo a government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for accessing classified information.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with experience engaging mid to high-level military and government officials.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in nonlinear editing, particularly with Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Illustrator, After Effects, InDesign, etc.).
  • Proactive and self-driven, with a commitment to continuous learning and expertise refinement in workflows and deliverables.
  • A background in television news, with an understanding of the demands of a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Possession of an associate's degree or higher is preferred.
  • Proficiency in standard desktop applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with the ability to comprehend military operations at various strategic levels.
  • Experience with motion graphics is advantageous.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with a wide range of video recording equipment, including cameras, lighting, live production switchers, sound, and editing tools.
  • Experience in producing pre-recorded live-to-tape productions, including simulated news broadcasts and informational videos.
  • Ability to oversee script development, shot selection, graphic integration, and direct talent, ensuring cohesive product arrangement.
