JOB SUMMARY: The Media Coordinator role is essential in providing support to military training exercises through the Korea Battle Simulation Center (KBSC).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Chief of the Plans & Training Branch by developing, scripting, shooting, and producing simulated broadcast news style videos and print materials for military training scenarios.
  • Facilitate the transportation of media equipment to various training sites within the Pacific Command region.
  • Act as a simulated reporter to enhance training objectives through realistic media interactions.
  • Participate in training sessions and events to gain insights into scenario development during exercises.
  • Contribute significantly to the creation and management of media products, ensuring effective coordination between Public Affairs and training participants for mock media engagements and interviews.

  • Supervisor: Chief Plans and Training

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must be able to travel independently to events in the Pacific Command, averaging one trip monthly for durations of 3-14 days.
  • Self-motivation is crucial, along with the ability to handle and operate laptop and audio/visual equipment.
  • A strong understanding of the media's role in military operations is required, along with active listening skills and teamwork capabilities.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for extended periods.

Selected candidates will undergo a government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for accessing classified information.

DESIRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and experience interacting with military and government officials at various levels.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in nonlinear editing, particularly with Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, After Effects, InDesign, etc.).
  • Proactive in learning and refining expertise related to workflows and deliverables in a dynamic environment.
  • A background in television news is preferred, with an understanding of fast-paced, deadline-driven settings.
  • Possession of an associate's degree or higher is required.
  • Proficiency in standard desktop applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, along with the ability to comprehend military operations at strategic levels.
  • Experience with motion graphics is an advantage.

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in operating various video recording equipment, including cameras, lighting, live production switchers, sound, and editing tools.
  • Ability to create pre-recorded live-to-tape productions, including simulated news broadcasts and informational videos.
  • Oversight of script development, shot selection, graphic usage, and overall product arrangement is expected.
