Job Description

Overview: We are seeking skilled IT support professionals with a strong background in desktop technology. This role offers a long-term contract with the potential for permanent placement. Experience in a regulated environment is highly desirable.

Duration: 6 Months

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively with corporate IT and OneSource teams within the Lab Computing environment.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with lab owners, IT teams, and management.
  • Proactively maintain and support the laboratory environment.
  • Create and manage a comprehensive inventory of lab equipment, PCs, software, and other relevant information.
  • Oversee the onboarding, retirement, and relocation of equipment.
  • Identify and resolve inefficiencies in the environment, focusing on fault tolerance, preventative maintenance, IT security, and best practices.
  • Work with various departments to enhance systems and processes.
  • Install and troubleshoot computers and software in laboratory settings.
  • Document procedures, policies, troubleshooting methods, and best practices.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for installations and problem resolution.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients.
  • Participate in client team meetings and submit weekly reports to the team lead.
  • Keep stakeholders informed of status updates on a daily basis.
  • Escalate unresolved IT issues through appropriate channels, acting as a liaison between business and corporate IT teams.
  • Exhibit professionalism, strong listening skills, and excellent analytical abilities.
  • Manage time effectively with minimal supervision to meet objectives.
  • Work a defined 40-hour week, with flexibility based on client needs.
  • Provide support to other client and PerkinElmer groups as required.

Required Skills:

  • Desktop support, hardware management, deployment, imaging, troubleshooting, networking, validation, scripting, TCP/IP.

Top Skills:

  • Hands-on desktop support experience.
  • Networking and configurations.
  • Troubleshooting expertise, particularly with Windows 7/10.
  • Experience with standard operating procedures (SOP).

Bonus Skills: A+ Certification, validation experience, scripting knowledge, disaster recovery expertise.

Work Environment: This role involves interaction with scientists, requiring a strong personality to manage pushback from end users. Candidates should be team-oriented, quick learners, and unafraid to ask questions.
