Overview:


Meta is on the lookout for a Supplier Strategist to spearhead the development and nurturing of a strategic sourcing initiative within the Infrastructure Supply Chain and Engineering sectors.

This position will involve collaboration with data center suppliers who provide essential goods and services to bolster Meta's worldwide supply chain.

The supplier base encompasses all segments of hardware manufacturing and the associated products/services necessary for Meta's Data Center Infrastructure, including compute, storage, and networking hardware.


Key Responsibilities:

Supplier Strategist Duties:


This role will encompass the oversight of a third-party vendor tasked with mapping the supply chain's supplier landscape and Meta-specific commodities (down to the Tier-N level). This includes managing Contracting Installed, Contractor Furnished and Installed (CFCI) products, facilitating the creation of a comprehensive database and visualization tools to comprehend geographic dependencies of all commodities. Additionally, the role will involve establishing a sustainable program for regular data updates, encompassing supplier financials, regulatory compliance, ESG/Net Zero/carbon emissions, and other critical risk factors. Regular communication with key internal stakeholders and cross-functional partners regarding identified risks will be essential to develop appropriate supplier strategies (e.g., identifying additional sources, buffer strategies, and supplier engagement/escalation).


Develop and implement a centralized, all-encompassing risk management framework for third-party suppliers/vendors related to Meta's data center infrastructure supply base, starting with geographic dependencies.

Exhibit proactivity, transparency, and accountability in identifying and managing conduct risks to create and maintain a geographic risk-parameter program that enables critical reporting for Product/Strategy groups, Trade Operations, Risk, Sustainability, and sourcing teams.

Conduct thorough supplier analyses to pinpoint control gaps, concentration risks, or other relevant risk themes, as necessary.

Perform comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential supplier risks, which includes:

coordinating internal teams and managing relationships with consultants and external experts, evaluating and utilizing supplier and MPN mapping down to the Tier-N level to conduct risk analysis on global geographic dependencies by supplier, and evolving the program to include additional factors such as supplier financial stability, reputation, compliance history, and operational capabilities.

Utilize existing third-party tools (including training/tool adoption) provided by consultants, integrated with current supply chain analytics/insights. Extract insights from complex risk datasets. These insights will influence sourcing category plans managed by Global Technology Sourcing (by category) or materials planning.


Upon identifying risks through the assessment process, conduct in-depth investigations on high-risk suppliers to gather detailed information regarding their practices, policies, and overall business operations.

Review and prioritize risk-based mitigation recommendations, collaborating with internal stakeholders (e.g., sourcing managers, inventory managers) on opportunities (e.g., alternative supplies, buffer strategies, third-party executive communication/escalation).

Present assessment findings to stakeholders and leaders across the organization to foster alignment on risk management strategies.

In partnership with Global Technology Sourcing, Capacity Planning Manufacturing Delivery, and key ISCE pillars, manage existing suppliers to mitigate risks.

Supplier Engagement:

Drive supplier interactions, either independently or with relevant stakeholders, to develop and execute a commercial roadmap (including location strategy, supply/demand strategy, buffer strategy, prioritization, etc.).

Identify and cultivate potential commercial models/supplier models that necessitate the development of requirements (RFx to award/contract). Onboard new supplier models, which includes supplier business reviews and overall supplier management. Propel supplier commercial and/or technical process improvement initiatives to mitigate risks while ensuring cost/quality parity. Maintain a sustainable program to continuously monitor supplier performance and detect emerging risks.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain management, and supplier management.

5+ years of program or project management experience.

Experience utilizing data and metrics to drive improvements.

Experience collaborating cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical teams.

Experience fostering cross-functional partnerships and enabling the success of others.

Experience transforming business systems and achieving results relative to goals. Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo, think creatively, and deliver results.

Proven executive presence in managing suppliers with effective communication and presentation skills for an executive audience.


Experience with RFQ package creation, source selection, specification development, cost analysis, and price negotiation with relevant team members.


Experience with risk management and disaster recovery best practices related to data center hardware, including hardware manufacturing facilities, processes, and objectives.

Experience sourcing and managing global suppliers and manufacturing partners across North America, Asia, Europe, and LATAM.

Experience reviewing and executing commercial agreements/contracts.

Experience with data center hardware architecture and deployment.

Compensation:
$144,000/year to $201,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
