Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer to join our team at the Inland Empire Utilities Agency. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the design and construction of water treatment and distribution facilities, as well as managing engineering projects and teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, supervise, and participate in the work of an engineering or planning unit.
  • Oversee and perform complex, professional engineering duties for a number of functional areas, including CIP project planning/design, engineering project management, environmental resource planning, compliance monitoring, and energy management.
  • Supervise and/or participate in complex professional engineering, planning, and project management work requiring advanced levels of professional training/experience and registration as a Professional Engineer.
  • Direct the development of strategies that plan for, identify, and coordinate imported water, surface water, groundwater, recycled water, and wastewater supplies, reliability, and demand within the Agency's service region.
  • Oversee computer modeling and analyses, and draft short- and long-term planning reports and technical documents.
  • Review and evaluate outside agency requests for alterations or new connections to IEUA infrastructure and determine cost, perform plan checks, sign drawings, and issue construction permits.
  • Direct the Agency's oversight and efficient management of its energy program, track, analyze, and optimize the Agency's energy management portfolio, and identify opportunities to meet future facility energy needs in a cost-effective and efficient manner.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in engineering, and at least ten years of focused engineering experience, or six years of progressively responsible diversified engineering and project management experience, preferably in a wastewater/water utility, four years of which were at the level of IEUA's Senior Associate Engineer-PE.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California.
  • A valid California Class C driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Agency's vehicle insurance program.
