Role Overview: Medical Science Liaison (MSL)

In this role, you will have the chance to establish and nurture a robust network of relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) at regional, national, and international levels within the Merz Therapeutics framework. Your interactions will span various specialties, including Neurology, Adult Physical Rehabilitation Medicine, and ENT, related to our product offerings. These relationships will facilitate increased receptivity to future pipeline products and support the generation of clinical data pertinent to our portfolio. You will play a crucial role in disseminating clinical information that underpins our therapeutics business, ensuring balanced and fair discourse.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing Key Opinion Leader Relationships

  • Identify, develop, and support KOLs across core specialties in alignment with the Merz Therapeutics product portfolio.
  • Document and respond to unsolicited inquiries from healthcare providers regarding medical information on our products.
  • Create and implement educational messaging strategies to enhance scientific awareness and advocacy for Merz Therapeutics products.
  • Manage scientific exchanges and provide balanced responses to decision-makers in managed care.
  • Support grants, investigator-initiated trials, and educational requests.
  • Maintain an advanced understanding of our product portfolio and market competitors to enhance credibility and educational discussions.
  • Provide competitive insights to internal stakeholders.

Medical Congress Activities and Planning

  • Conduct advanced planning for assigned medical meetings.
  • Oversee the calendar of events for congresses and lead interactions with senior management and KOLs.
  • Educate congress faculty on the Merz Therapeutics portfolio to identify educational opportunities.
  • Audit relevant sessions at medical meetings and report on educational value.

Brand Lead Expertise

  • Serve as the product lead expert to support clinical and scientific commercial needs.
  • Conduct scientific workshops to enhance knowledge across various divisions.
  • Facilitate investigator-initiated trials, including patient recruitment and publication planning.
  • Provide insights from interactions with thought leaders to the Medical/Clinical teams.

Scientific Advisory Boards

  • Assist in executing Medical Affairs advisory boards to identify knowledge gaps and generate consensus on treatment guidelines.

Travel Requirements

  • Expect a minimum of 60% field travel, which may include weekends and overnight stays for KOL visits and medical meetings.

Required Education

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, or MD).

Required Professional Experience

  • At least one year of MSL or related industry experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Adhere to corporate SOPs and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain strict adherence to company compliance policies and government regulations.
  • Knowledge of PhRMA and AdvaMed Code and FDA regulations is preferred.
  • Strong clinical knowledge in relevant therapeutic areas.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate complex scientific concepts.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
