Job Summary:

Under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional, the Medical Office Assistant II performs routine patient care tasks and assists with medical procedures. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with patient exams and procedures, including vital sign collection and preparation of patients for exams.
  • Respond to patient messages and provide education to patients and families.
  • Perform nursing care functions, such as wound care and dressing changes, under the direction of a licensed provider.
  • Recognize and respond to acute emergency situations, following established procedures.
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures and diagnostic examinations, including positioning and draping patients.
  • Prepare and transport medical equipment and specimens, and clean and disinfect instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including charting and filing.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance activities and report incidents of non-compliance with procedures.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a program in Medical Office Assistant with certification and equivalent of six months experience, or twelve months equivalent experience in lieu of certification.
  • Ability to give and follow oral and written instructions, and work effectively with the public.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sterile techniques and valid CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with dressing changes, sterile procedures, and message management.
