Police Officer

Delaware State University is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our campus community.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol the campus to prevent and detect crime, and to provide a visible presence to deter potential offenders.
- Respond to and investigate incidents, including crimes and accidents, and to take appropriate action to resolve the situation.
- Enforce university policies and procedures, as well as state and local laws, to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Provide assistance and support to students, faculty, and staff, and to respond to their needs and concerns.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and university departments to share information and best practices.
- Participate in training and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and technologies.
- A minimum of an Associate's degree or 60 credit hours, with some college work in criminal justice, political science, or the social sciences preferred.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds.
- A valid motor vehicle operator's license and the ability to be commissioned as a Police Officer for Delaware State University.
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening test and a comprehensive background investigation, including driving records, financial status, and criminal history.
- Successful completion of mandatory police training in the State of Delaware or equivalent training acceptable to the Delaware Council on Police Training within the first year of employment.
The Police Officer will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to stress and potentially hazardous situations. The position requires the ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and to be on call as needed.
