Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Design Manager II to join our team at LAWA's Planning & Division (PDD) in the Architecture & Planning Unit (APU). The successful candidate will have a strong background in airport planning and design, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a multi-disciplined team of planners, architects, engineers, and other professionals to guide the planning, design, permitting, procurement, construction, and activation of various airport capital improvement projects
  • Coordinate with Clients & Stakeholders to develop a Business Case for potential Capital Projects
  • Develop and present preliminary design-alternatives and comparative-analysis to address requests and/or concerns from LAWA leadership and/or project stakeholders throughout the planning & design process
  • Review planning & design submittals for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to the applicable project requirements, and provide meaningful & constructive feedback to the planning & design team
  • Solicit feedback from internal and external project stakeholders, and guide design teams through competing interests and projects constraints to ensure the best possible outcomes with respect to quality, cost, schedule, sustainability, resiliency, innovation, user-experience, constructability, operational flexibility, maintainability, etc.
Requirements
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture, Engineering, and/or related field
  • Minimum 10+ Years of Professional Experience, preferably on large complex airport capital projects
  • Licensed Architect or Engineer is desirable (but not required)
  • Optional Certifications such as AAAE, CASp, LEED, PMP, etc. are desirable
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerBI, etc.)
  • Familiar with Planning & Design Software (AutoDesk, Sketchup, etc.)
