Job Summary

Legal Aid Society of DC is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Domestic Violence and Family Law unit. As a summer intern, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including drafting motions and other filings, conducting legal research, and assisting with trial preparation.

This internship is an excellent opportunity for law students interested in public interest law and domestic violence/family law to gain hands-on experience and make a meaningful impact in the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with drafting motions and other filings
  • Conduct legal research and write memoranda
  • Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and taking notes on testimony
  • Attend court hearings and assist with client intake

Requirements:

  • Current law student or graduate interested in public interest law and domestic violence/family law
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Scholarship Funding:

Legal Aid Society of DC provides scholarship funding to ensure that summer law students receive a minimum of $6,125 per summer. Students may waive funding if they are prohibited from receiving remuneration by their law school.
