Senior Financial Analyst

The Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our team. This is a full-time benefitted position located at our Director's office in Boise, Idaho.
This position is Grade I; additional information can be found at:
Minimum salary rate is $20.23. The final salary rate is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:
Independently perform all functions related to Payroll pre-processing, payroll research, payroll adjustments;
Review and process agency-wide employee travel reimbursements;
Ensure vendor information is up to date;
Assist with invoice payments;
Generate ad hoc reports through State and Agency software;
Provide as needed back-up support to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable team;
Analysis of financial data and documentation;
Explain regulations and policies;
Minimum Qualifications:
Some knowledge of:
- Accounting principles and practices
- Financial record keeping methods
- Bookkeeping
- Using advanced Microsoft Excel functions
- Researching and compiling financial info and preparing summaries and reports
- Using personal computers to retrieve, edit, and analyze financial data
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
Great attention to detail and time management skills;
Experience with LUMA accounting software and/or State of Idaho accounting software;
Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills;
Ability to troubleshoot and multi-task issues that arise.

Under the direction of the , IDL manages more than 2.5 million acres of state endowment trust land under a constitutional mandate to produce maximum long-term financial returns for public schools and several other State of Idaho institutions. Leases and other contracts are used to authorize revenue generating activities such as timber harvest, grazing, farming, mining, commercial use, residential use, and conservation in a prudent and sustainable manner.
Managing is only part of our story. We also protect public resources such as water quality, fish, wildlife habitat, and recreation on , and ensure the protection of water quality and other resources by overseeing forestry and mining practices across all ownerships in the state. We also work to reclaim abandoned mines in Idaho. One of our most important resource protection responsibilities is fire prevention and suppression. We also provide assistance to landowners to manage their forest lands, work with communities to plant trees in urban settings, help keep working forests working through the Forest Legacy Program, and work with many partners to promote healthy forests on a landscape level. IDL also is the administrative arm of the Idaho Oil and Gas Conservation Commission.
