Job Title: Hospital Director of Operations

We are seeking a seasoned business leader with expertise in clinical operations, financial decision-making, and culture development to join our team as a Hospital Director of Operations at Ethos Veterinary Health.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will embody the principles of servant leadership, value collaboration, and have the vision and ability to drive organizational growth. As a Hospital Director of Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing all operations and business activities, leading team members across departments, and partnering effectively with the Medical Director(s) to achieve our goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directly oversee all operations and business activities, ensuring seamless execution and continuous improvement.
  • Lead team members across departments, fostering a positive hospital culture based on trust and teamwork.
  • Partner effectively with the Medical Director(s) to establish the best medical care while maintaining the positive financial health of the hospital.
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term plans for growth, including the addition of new services, recruitment of doctors and other key team members, pricing strategies, space optimization, and acquisitions of new equipment.
  • Oversee accounting and finance processes, creating an annual operating budget to achieve overall revenue growth and profitability.
  • Lead hospital financial activities, including monthly review of financial statements and corrective action in response to variances and trends.
  • Apply continuous improvement principles to existing financial and operating processes, ensuring effective communication and feedback loops with doctors and hospital staff.
  • Own the P&L and drive results across all elements of the business, setting goals and evaluating progress toward objectives.
  • Partner with Ethos and technology providers to support and enhance hospital activities and the experience of clients and referring veterinarians.
  • Direct growth activities to support business objectives and plans, providing thought leadership, coaching, and mentoring to elevate hospital leadership team performance.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of progressive operational management experience with a record of success, including experience owning a P&L.
  • Larger scale healthcare (veterinary or human) experience preferred, but not required.
  • Learns quickly and can absorb new information rapidly.
  • Self-motivated while also an expert at motivating, coaching, and inspiring others.
  • Ability to roll up your sleeves and get things done with enthusiastic participation, including flexible and irregular hours and role descriptions to support the hospital.
