Mattel is seeking a highly skilled professional to lead its internal space strategy for the Walmart account. This role requires a proactive, solution-oriented approach to drive business success in the fast-paced toy industry.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Design and execute product mix and placement strategies to maximize performance in retail environments.
  • Build modulars for key Mattel brands across seasonal milestones, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic vision.
  • Evaluate space to sales performance, highlighting gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide cut-down assortment plan recommendations to sales teams and merchants to optimize modular versions beyond main sets.
  • Strategize with marketing teams to grow Mattel brands and formulate productive merchandising recommendations.
  • Proactively help marketing teams trim items and focus lines to maximize productivity and listing potential.
  • Reinforce Walmart buyer's requested assortment and packaging preferences at Mattel line design sessions.
  • Design interactive reports that elevate retail analytics, using tools like Tableau and Alteryx.
  • Bring space metrics into Mattel's data infrastructure to enhance other teams' reporting.
  • Clearly highlight opportunities and gaps by analyzing and distributing weekly reports.
  • Analyze competitive space at top retailers and present key findings.
  • Lead a small, dedicated team focused on achieving Walmart modular excellence, effectively managing, developing, and engaging direct team members for high-performing results.
  • Successfully build relationships and influence stakeholders to support key objectives and outcomes for the business.

Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in analytics, analytic programming, category management, trade marketing, merchandising, sales forecasting/analysis, consumer and/or sales research.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with expertise in Excel a plus.
  • Experience with analyzing data from retailer POS and/or syndicated data a plus.
  • Tableau report-creation experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with analytic programming, Alteryx and/or SQL a plus.
  • Expertise and tool creation know-how with JDA Space Planning or similar space planning tool a plus.
