Position Overview:

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a dedicated and skilled Ultrasound Technologist II to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services within our advanced healthcare facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and manage patient scheduling and workflow for interdepartmental imaging procedures.
  2. Conduct diagnostic imaging studies under the supervision of a radiologist, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
  3. Facilitate the training and education of new medical personnel.
  4. Collaborate with radiologists to develop innovative imaging techniques and protocols.
  5. Engage in research initiatives and contribute to the development of research protocols.
  6. Act as a team leader, guiding junior staff and maintaining operational efficiency.
  7. Monitor and verify the accuracy of billing for ultrasound procedures and related supplies.
  8. Provide demonstrations of ultrasound equipment for visiting professionals.
  9. Conduct in-service training sessions for staff.
  10. Review and confirm ultrasound orders, ensuring appropriateness and accuracy.
  11. Establish rapport with patients to identify their service needs and enhance their experience.
  12. Verify patient identification and obtain necessary consents prior to procedures.
  13. Perform specialized ultrasound tasks in accordance with safety protocols, adapting practices to meet patient needs.
  14. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all necessary supplies are stocked.
  15. Participate in on-call duties as required.
  16. Report any unusual findings to the appropriate supervisory personnel promptly.

Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.

Certification: ARDMS registered; certifications in Abdominal & Vascular ultrasound, CPR, and BLS are mandatory.

Experience: A minimum of three years in a relevant ultrasound role.
