Under the guidance of a licensed independent practitioner, manager, and/or Registered Nurse, and in accordance with the relevant nursing delegation and supervision guidelines, the Emergency Medical Technician II provides a range of direct and indirect patient care services.

This role encompasses assistance with daily living activities, comfort care, nutritional support, and the execution of specific diagnostic and therapeutic tasks as instructed.

Indirect patient care responsibilities include maintaining a clean and safe environment, ensuring sufficient inventory of supplies and equipment, and collecting data relevant to the patient demographic.


Licensure and Certification Requirements:
Current EMT-P certification in Virginia and AHA ACLS Certification are required for hire and continued employment. AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent is also necessary.

PREFERRED:
1 year of active pre-hospital service and previous hazardous materials experience.

Education/Training:
REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited EMT-P Program.

Independent Actions:
This position may operate independently under protocols sanctioned by the Medical Director and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Functions under the direction of a licensed independent practitioner, MD, and/or RN to deliver patient care, emotional support, and problem-solving in alignment with hospital and nursing policies.

Operates under departmental Standards of Practice (SOP) in the communications room and during patient transport in collaboration with RN and Physician colleagues.

Job duties may involve handling, transporting, accessing, and/or contacting medications and related supplies.


Additional Position Requirements:
Availability to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays. Shift rotations and schedules will be coordinated with your Nurse Manager/Practice Manager.

Schedules may be adjusted as necessary to meet unit requirements.

Ability to lift 20-50 lbs.

Prolonged sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, other), reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive), and repetitive motion.

Exposure to potentially hazardous and infectious substances.

Strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, clear speech, legible writing, reading, and logical thinking.

Emotional:
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, adapt to frequent changes, and work in a noisy setting.
