Job Summary

The Department of Parks & Recreation is seeking a highly skilled Park Maintenance Worker I to join our team in the Facilities Development Program. This position will be responsible for ensuring access to cannabis cultivation operations and preventing recurrence through ongoing patrols and remediation efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance and upkeep of state parks throughout California.
  • Work with the Proposition 64 Cannabis crew to ensure access to cannabis cultivation operations and prevent recurrence.
  • Participate in and lead projects to maintain and improve park facilities and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with maintenance supervisors and chiefs to ensure project success.
  • Travel extensively throughout the state to work on remote sites in rugged terrain.
  • May be required to spike or camp out when working at remote locations.
Requirements
  • Valid California Driver's License (CDL) required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
Working Conditions

This position requires extensive travel and long-term project coordination. The incumbent will work in a variety of environments, including remote sites in rugged terrain. The position may require working nights, weekends, and odd hours, as well as overtime in accomplishment of assigned tasks.

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
