GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE


The Retail Operations Leader (ROL) plays a crucial role in embodying Ulta Beauty's mission, vision, and values, with the aim of cultivating a high-performing team that consistently achieves sales growth.

The ROL oversees a team of Task Associates and collaborates closely with the Merchandise Manager (MM) to manage the retail store's operations, including planograms, inventory management, and various lifecycle processes (e.g., cycle counts, damages, testers, Return To Vendors (RTV), and inventory adjustments).

This leader is instrumental in driving the store's business performance by focusing on three key areas: results (sales and inventory performance), people (talent acquisition and development), and processes (adherence to operational standards).

The role demands a commitment to operational excellence, a results-oriented mindset, and the ability to navigate complexities while effectively leading and developing the team.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Job Functions)

Foster a culture of accountability to achieve or surpass the store's objectives related to sales, customer loyalty, payroll, and inventory management.

Drive profitability through operational excellence and effective expense management.


Utilize store forecasts and payroll budgets to optimize scheduling and communicate needs to the General Manager (GM) to enhance productivity and meet sales goals.


Regularly review and respond to financial and operational reports, including audit results, to ensure timely action.

Leverage company tools and resources to implement improvements that align with Ulta Beauty's objectives.

Engage with customers through makeup applications, skincare consultations, and product demonstrations to enhance sales and customer service.


Stay informed about industry trends and product knowledge to better assist customers.

Maintain consistent attendance and hold team members accountable to attendance policies.

People


Attract, hire, and retain a diverse and talented team while addressing staffing needs effectively.


Build a highly engaged team that reflects the Ulta Beauty brand through collaboration and open communication.

Create an inclusive atmosphere that encourages growth and engagement among associates.


Support professional development through training, feedback, performance reviews, and succession planning to foster continuous improvement.

Ensure ongoing training for all team members to drive sales performance.

Process


Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty's policies and standards throughout the store.


Adhere to the dress code and enforce operational standards for visual merchandising and inventory management.


Utilize scheduling and task management tools to optimize store operations and manage attendance effectively.


Oversee inventory control processes to protect company assets and minimize loss.


Communicate regularly with field leadership regarding business trends and operational challenges.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience

2-3+ years in fast-paced retail management or relevant experience.

Skills

Proficient in technology (e.g., Point of Sale systems, Microsoft Office).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks.

Ability to remain composed under pressure and adapt to changing situations.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Flexible full-time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Mobility throughout the store during shifts, including frequent bending and lifting up to 25 lbs.

Continuous use of computers and related office equipment.

The compensation for this position is competitive, with opportunities for additional earnings through the company's bonus plan. Exact pay will depend on various factors including education, experience, and location.
