Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Permits Coordinator to join our team at the Virginia Department of Transportation. As a key member of our Land Use Office, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our permitting process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate workflow, maintain files, and prepare reports to ensure accurate and timely processing of permit applications.
  • Process permit applications, fees, sureties, street acceptance, and requests with precision and attention to detail.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Prepare permit completion notices, process release of sureties, and update and maintain street acceptance databases with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Provide administrative and technical support, including document management and data entry, to ensure seamless operations.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of office and program support activities, including permitting and street acceptance processes.
  • Ability to compile, coordinate, and prepare reports, meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to research, gather, and analyze data, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of civil design or construction management principles, with a combination of training, experience, and education preferred.
