Overview:

The Housekeeping Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of housekeeping and laundry services, ensuring that these services consistently meet and exceed the expectations of guests and owners. This role involves strict adherence to all operational policies, procedures, and regulations. The manager will evaluate the productivity and quality of work performed by the Room Attendant teams, Housemen, and Public Area Attendants. Regular inspections of the property will be conducted at least three times daily to ensure that all cleaning tasks and projects are completed to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively with the Director of Housekeeping to manage the housekeeping team and operations, focusing on three primary objectives:
    • Enhance guest satisfaction through exceptional service delivery.
    • Protect departmental assets and manage expenditures to minimize losses.
    • Promote a safe working environment for both staff and guests.
  • Lead, train, and develop team members to ensure they meet operational competencies and understand hotel operations to fulfill guest and owner expectations.
  • Communicate annual goals from corporate and property levels to the team in alignment with the business strategy.
  • Oversee the housekeeping budget, including inventory management, scheduling, and staff development, while ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and regulations.
  • Develop and mentor Housekeeping Supervisors, setting measurable goals and expectations for professional conduct.
  • Assign room responsibilities and daily tasks to supervisors and attendants, ensuring efficient operations.
  1. Manage the housekeeping staff by fostering open communication, providing training, coaching, and performance feedback to maximize efficiency. Exhibit strong leadership qualities, making clear and prompt decisions.
  2. Inspect the cleanliness of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces, ensuring compliance with health and sanitation standards.
  3. Delegate assignments based on special requests and operational needs to maintain a smooth workflow.
  4. Control inventory by issuing supplies to staff at the beginning of shifts, ensuring availability while managing costs.
  5. Address guest inquiries and concerns promptly to ensure satisfaction and compliance with service standards.
  6. Engage in special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned, participating in hotel committees and task forces.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory role within housekeeping is preferred.
  • Familiarity with scheduling, purchase order processing, and expense management systems is advantageous.
  • Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent experience in housekeeping.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills.
  • Ability to interact courteously and professionally with guests and staff.
  • Strong multitasking abilities under time constraints.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Proven ability to provide direction and leadership.
  • Analytical skills to define problems, gather data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Willingness to engage in professional development and supervisory training.

Experience:
1-2 years of relevant experience in a similar role is required, with management experience preferred. A strong command of the English language is essential for effective communication with guests and team members. Candidates should demonstrate a professional demeanor, confidence, and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Creativity and a commitment to continuous improvement are highly valued.
