We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at Waukesha County. As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and minor repair work to the interior and exterior of County buildings.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform maintenance and minor repair work to buildings, including plumbing, heating, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
- Assist experienced Maintenance Mechanics in major repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Perform repairs to windows, walls, and doors, as well as associated frames and hardware.
- Perform minor drywall, plaster, and ceramic tile wall repairs, as well as various flooring and roofing repairs.
- Conduct roof inspections to identify potential issues and prevent damage to buildings.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance, lubricate, and change belts on mechanical equipment.
- Perform mechanical preventative maintenance, repair, and cleaning work on large heating and cooling systems and related equipment.
- Clean and replace filters for heating and ventilating equipment.
- Maintain tools and equipment.
- Perform surface preparation and apply paint, shellac, varnish, enamel, stain, or other protectives to various surfaces.
- Move heavy furniture or equipment from one location to another.
- Perform pick-up and delivery duties as directed.
- Assemble tools and supplies in preparation for work orders.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Three years of work experience involving trades work or general repairs and maintenance to buildings.
- Relevant post-high school training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis to meet the work experience requirement.
- Possession of a valid driver's license is desirable.
