About the Role

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer/Principal Systems Engineer to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA. As a key member of our space systems team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering complex space systems that meet the needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Capture and communicate technical concepts to peers and stakeholders
  • Drive product development to closure through self-directed initiative and leadership
  • Understand space satellite mission planning, demonstration, and delivery of mission effects during operations
  • Perform system-of-system trades, modeling, simulation, and analysis to assess space mission architecture alternatives
  • Develop requirement traceability and verification plans
  • Support execution activities, including configuration control board and customer meetings
  • Prepare review/briefing material for working group meetings, reviews, and program status
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Physics or Engineering or related STEM field
  • 2-5 years of experience in a related engineering field, depending on level (T2 or T3)
  • U.S. Citizenship with active or current TS/SCI Clearance at the time of application
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and practices
  • Experience in one or more of the following system engineering knowledge areas: technical planning, requirements derivation, functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, cost and risk analysis, interface definition, system design, system integration, verification and validation, supportability, and effectiveness analyses for total system
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work within diverse teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in mission design, satellite ground software, distributed modeling & simulation
  • Understanding of system of system architecture designs the interplay between various national security customers and products
  • Ability to make decisions under high pressure environments and maintain composure in stressful situations
  • Previous experience with troubleshooting, anomaly resolution, and performing analysis on operational systems
  • Previous experience with flight hardware on operational systems
  • Previous experience with Class C / demonstration programs
  • Prior aerospace-related work experience for a U.S Government Agency or Contractor
