Ground Support Systems Engineer

As a Tooling/Ground Support Engineer at Impulse Space, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of tooling, fixtures, and support apparatus. You will collaborate with a dynamic and agile team dedicated to creating high-performance spacecraft from innovative designs.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design, development, and execution of tooling and fixtures for both metallic and composite structures.
- Oversee the creation and implementation of testing equipment to facilitate the evaluation of flight structures.
- Work in partnership with designers, analysts, and engineers to advance the development and prototyping of spacecraft designs and testing facilities.
- Coordinate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure effective production of designs.
- Tackle complex technical challenges with a focus on rapid execution.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in designing fixtures or tooling (including relevant student projects and internships).
- Proven experience with CAD software and the preparation of manufacturing drawings.
- Strong communication skills to articulate technical challenges and solutions effectively.
- Familiarity with metrology systems, including ROMER Arms, optical scanners, and laser trackers.
- Experience in machining, fabrication, welding, or composite manufacturing.
- Ability to manage and work with large assemblies.
- Understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Knowledge of lifting and rigging techniques.
- Experience with NX/Teamcenter software.
- Background in a startup or agile development setting.
Compensation is determined based on role, level, location, and market alignment. Individual salary and level are assessed on a case-by-case basis, considering job-related skills, education, experience, and internal equity. Full-time employees may also be eligible for long-term incentives, including stock options, and benefits such as medical, vision, and dental coverage, along with access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
