Position Overview:

As a Lead Cashier, you will leverage your extensive experience to guarantee a consistently exceptional customer experience at the checkout. Your role will involve training cashiers on maintaining drawer accuracy and enhancing customer interactions. You will also be responsible for ensuring adequate staffing levels and serving as a backup when necessary. Additionally, you will maintain a clean and safe checkout area.

Ideal Candidate:

The perfect candidate will possess over 3 years of cashier experience, demonstrating a customer-centric approach and a passion for mentoring and motivating team members. You will collaborate with the Store Manager to minimize inventory discrepancies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately itemize and total purchases by recording prices and operating the cash register.
  • Implement price changes as per the latest price sheets and promotional bulletins.
  • Process discounts by redeeming coupons.
  • Collect payments through cash, checks, or credit cards, ensuring accurate change is provided.
  • Verify credit transactions by checking and recording customer identification.
  • Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Provide pricing information and assist customers with inquiries.
  • Maintain checkout operations by adhering to company policies and reporting necessary changes.
  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment by following established procedures and regulations.
  • Contribute to team goals by achieving related results as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and escalate issues with the cash register and other equipment.
  • Manage cashier schedules and ensure adequate coverage during all shifts.
  • Train and supervise cashiers to uphold service standards.
  • Understand product placement to effectively assist customers.
  • Ensure accurate drawer reconciliation at the end of each shift.
  • Act as a backup for cashiers when needed.
  • Monitor cashier break schedules.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of cashier experience.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Strong multitasking abilities.
  • Exhibit a friendly and courteous demeanor.
  • Reliable transportation and punctuality.
  • Willingness to train and mentor others.
  • Ability to lift 15+ pounds frequently.
  • Experience in register reconciliation.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Prior cashiering experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
