Company Overview

II-VI Incorporated is seeking an experienced Import/Export Compliance Analyst to enhance their legal department. This position is integral to the Global Trade Compliance Team.

Key Responsibilities

General Duties

  • Oversee import/export teams and facilitate adherence to global trade regulations.
  • Serve as the Empowered Official for ITAR activities.
  • Administer accounts and submissions in the Defense Export Control and Compliance System (DECCS) and the Redesigned Simplified Network Application Process (SNAP-R).
  • Foster relationships with government representatives and engage in trade associations.
  • Assist in the execution of the global trade compliance framework.
  • Provide guidance to senior leadership regarding the implications of trade compliance legislation.
  • Act as the primary liaison for trade compliance at designated locations.
  • Ensure adherence to regulations governing product shipment, receipt, and documentation.
  • Conduct internal training on trade compliance and drive process enhancements.
  • Audit import/export procedures, document findings, and implement necessary corrective measures.
  • Resolve trade compliance challenges with customs brokers, suppliers, and clients.
  • Devise strategic solutions to bolster business operations.

Export Compliance Duties

  • Function as the Empowered Official for ITAR facilities.
  • Assist in the formulation of a cohesive export compliance strategy.
  • Carry out classification assessments and maintain classification matrices.
  • Incorporate export compliance into New Product Introduction initiatives.
  • Support the management of Technical Data and Technology.
  • Prepare submissions for the DDTC and BIS.
  • Oversee the export hold system.
  • Facilitate license identification and ensure proactive compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff and respond to inquiries from regulators.
  • Address business inquiries regarding export compliance obligations.

Import Compliance Duties

  • Enhance the import compliance framework for various facilities.
  • Establish Standard Operating Procedures for import compliance.
  • Manage corporate customs brokers and drive process improvements.
  • Perform compliance audits, accurately classify goods, and assess valuation.
  • Ensure imports comply with local regulations and necessary clearances.
  • Monitor and audit the valuation of imported products and understand Country of Origin determinations.

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. import and export regulations, including ITAR, EAR, and U.S. Customs.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in import/export compliance.
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems.
