Veterinary Surgery Technician

As a Veterinary Technician in the Surgery Department at Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our team of veterinarians. Your responsibilities will include assisting with surgical procedures, monitoring anesthesia, and providing outstanding client communication and education.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with surgical procedures, including abdominal explores, cruciate repairs, fracture repairs, thoracotomies, and laparoscopic and arthroscopic surgeries.
- Monitor anesthesia and provide patient care during surgical procedures.
- Provide outstanding client communication and education, ensuring that clients are informed and comfortable throughout the care process.
- Assist with patient prep and recovery, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and medication administration.
- Perform sterile scrub and assist doctors throughout surgical procedures.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in the veterinary field with anesthesia experience required.
- Solid technical skills and anesthesia knowledge base, sound judgment, and the ability to function both independently and with a team.
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written; organizational skills; proactive thinking and a positive attitude.
- Accuracy in calculating and delivering anesthetic agents, fluids, and CRIs.
- Proficiency in record keeping related to medical procedures, including daily treatments administered, patient status, procedures completed, supplies used, and anesthetic records.
