Job Summary

The Lead Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and maintenance of VersAbility Resources facilities. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating maintenance and equipment needs, working closely with residential programs, directors, managers, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform painting, carpentry, and masonry work, including preparing surfaces, applying paints, stains, and varnishes, and hanging doors.
  • Facilities Management: Reconfigure, install, position, and remount modular office and space to accommodate user needs and maximize office space.
  • Plumbing Maintenance: Perform minor plumbing maintenance, including replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, and laying out new lines.
  • Contractor Coordination: Interact with contractors who perform maintenance and services for VersAbility Resources.
  • Fire Safety: Assist with fire safety and training for VersAbility's facilities.
  • Inspections: Inspect buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair.
  • Electrical Maintenance: Perform minor electrical maintenance, including replacement or repair of fixtures, such as wall switches and outlets, and incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes.
  • Project Evaluation: Assist in evaluating short/long-term needs in relation to major projects and property improvements.
  • Training and Development: Attend and participate in training opportunities and seminars relevant to this position.
  • Facilities Manager Support: Assist the Facilities Manager as required and act in their capacity during absences.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to after-hour maintenance requests and initiate or perform maintenance response as required.
Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Education: High School diploma; Trade School Training/completion preferably in carpentry.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience or recently completed trade school preferably in carpentry.
