Job Overview

We are in search of a skilled technician to collaborate closely with engineering teams in process, project, and tooling, alongside production staff to facilitate the launch of new products on the manufacturing floor. This role requires strong problem-solving abilities to investigate and develop solutions for ongoing challenges in existing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on technical support on the production floor for at least 80% of the time.
  • Conduct new tool trials, analyze tool designs, and specifications to understand their functionality.
  • Assist operators in troubleshooting technical issues and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Perform various tasks including conducting tests, reporting findings, adjusting machinery, and diagnosing equipment issues.

Essential Duties:

  • Support process operations through hands-on troubleshooting and development.
  • Contribute to process optimization efforts.
  • Analyze data to enhance process tools and overall quality.
  • Verify manufacturing standards against estimates.
  • Conduct process capability and uptime studies to achieve predetermined goals before project handoff to manufacturing.
  • Assist the Maintenance Team with recurring machine issues.
  • Implement continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Research and conduct trials on materials and consumables to enhance cost-effectiveness and quality.
  • Investigate and coordinate improvements, repairs, and replacements of tooling.
  • Monitor standard tooling inventories to ensure adequate supplies are available.
  • Facilitate initial manufacturing reviews of setup documentation and coordinate ongoing updates.
  • Program BLM tube laser and 5-axis lasers, providing support for manufacturing as needed.
  • Offer technical problem-solving expertise to manufacturing teams as required.

Work Schedule: This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay, typically requiring eight or more hours of work per day, five days a week based on business needs. Standard hours are from 2 PM to 10:30 PM.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in metal roll forming or a related field, including experience with roll forming, progressive stamping, or tool and die.
  • Proficient in computer and technical skills, including knowledge of CAD software, Microsoft Office, and internal manufacturing systems.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR/EAR requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two-year technical degree.
  • Two or more years of experience in tryout or research and development.
  • Hands-on experience with tube bending, lean manufacturing principles, manual milling and lathe operations, manufacturing software, PLCs, and electrical controls/programming, PFMEA, SPC, and GD&T.
