OVERVIEW:

The Senior Commercial Portfolio Manager plays a crucial role in conducting financial analysis, underwriting, and evaluating intricate relationships within the Commercial Portfolio Management sector.

This role involves the thorough examination of business financial statements and tax documents, necessitating a comprehensive assessment of various factors.

Address moderately complex challenges and guide the Commercial Portfolio team to fulfill project objectives while utilizing a robust understanding of functions, policies, procedures, and compliance standards.

Engage in collaboration and consultation with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve issues and achieve organizational goals. Lead projects and teams or act as a mentor for junior staff.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Engage with the Commercial Lender in discussions with clients or potential clients.
  • Conduct interviews with applicants to gather essential information regarding their projects, financial requirements, and objectives to make informed risk assessments for the existing portfolio.
  • Assist the Commercial Lender in ensuring that all pertinent information is submitted to the credit department promptly for risk evaluation.
  • Monitor ongoing risk exposure, including regular assessments of borrowers and associated entities.
  • Collaborate closely with credit administrators, analysts, loan processors, and other personnel to maintain high-quality standards in credit applications.
  • Ensure accurate current risk evaluations of each credit facility and escalate cases where increased risk is identified.
  • Maintain tracking and reporting systems for pending loans, collateral documentation, and annual loan reviews.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of relevant state and federal regulations related to credit union compliance.
  • Foster a positive work environment by promoting skill development and ensuring high employee morale.
  • Provide strategic and technical guidance to management regarding recommendations to enhance the Credit Union's position.
  • Stay informed about applicable laws, regulations, and economic factors affecting the industry.
  • Compile and present information reports to senior management as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in commercial portfolio management within financial institutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Credit Union's operational procedures and objectives.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong understanding of compliance requirements and enterprise risk management.
  • Ability to work independently while fostering collaborative relationships across the organization.
  • Proficient in data management and analysis.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to produce professional reports based on conceptual information and emerging trends.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and business acumen.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
  • Corrected vision within normal range.
  • Hearing within normal range; assistive devices will be provided if necessary.
  • Minimal travel may be required for offsite engagements.
