Position Overview:
The Senior Commercial Portfolio Manager will engage in comprehensive financial analysis, underwriting, and evaluation of intricate relationships within the Commercial Portfolio Management sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in-depth assessments of business financial statements and tax documentation, necessitating a thorough analysis of various factors.
  • Address moderately complex challenges and guide the Commercial Portfolio team to fulfill project objectives while utilizing a robust understanding of functions, policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with peers, colleagues, and mid-level management to resolve issues and achieve strategic goals.
  • Lead projects and teams or mentor less experienced staff members.

Essential Functions:
  • Participate alongside the Commercial Lender in client or prospect meetings.
  • Interview applicants to gather pertinent information regarding their specific projects, financial requirements, and objectives to make informed risk assessments for the existing portfolio.
  • Assist the Commercial Lender in ensuring that all relevant information is submitted to the credit department promptly for timely risk evaluations.
  • Monitor ongoing risk exposure, including regular reviews of borrowers and associated entities.
  • Work closely with credit administrators, analysts, loan processors, and other personnel to maintain high-quality standards in each credit application.
  • Ensure accurate current risk assessments of each credit facility and escalate any identified increased risks.
  • Maintain tracking, monitoring, and reporting systems for pending loans, collateral documentation, and annual loan reviews.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of state and federal regulations related to credit union compliance, including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws relevant to the role.
  • Foster a positive work environment by promoting skill development, coaching for improvement, and ensuring high employee morale.
  • Provide essential and technical advice to management regarding strategies to enhance the Credit Union's positioning.
  • Stay informed about applicable laws, regulations, policies, and economic influences, updating senior management on any changes.
  • Compile and present information action reports to senior management as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of five years in commercial portfolio management within financial institutions, coupled with extensive financial analytics experience in the banking and financial services sector.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Advanced understanding of the Credit Union's operational procedures and objectives.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and implement effective solutions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of data management and analysis methodologies.
  • Strong grasp of compliance requirements and enterprise risk management.
  • Proven ability to work independently while fostering collaborative relationships across the organization.
  • Strong business acumen and financial management capabilities.
  • Ability to translate conceptual information into professional reports.
  • Solid understanding of technology as a competitive advantage in financial services.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting with occasional mobility required. Corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges. Minimal travel may be necessary for offsite engagements.
