Position Overview

The Chief Advancement Officer for Higher Education directly reports to the President. As the primary fundraising leader for California State University Sacramento, the individual plays a pivotal role in steering the university's development initiatives aimed at maximizing philanthropic contributions. The Chief Advancement Officer will formulate and execute the strategic vision for fundraising and alumni engagement in alignment with the university's core values and objectives.

This role encompasses leadership and guidance for the Division of University Advancement, which includes university development, annual giving, alumni relations, major gifts, advancement services, and donor stewardship. The Chief Advancement Officer is a member of the University Foundation Board and the Alumni Board, providing direction to dedicated volunteers, alumni, and supporters as the university seeks to enhance funding for its students and operations.

Expected Salary Range: $21,500 per month - $23,334 per month. Compensation is based on qualifications and experience.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; availability for evenings and weekends as necessary.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: A minimum of six to eight years of progressively responsible leadership experience in a comparable program. Proven success in fundraising and donor cultivation. Experience in managing the activities of a volunteer board, executive campaign committee, and principal gift prospects. Proven experience in leading volunteers, including foundation, campaign, and alumni boards.
