Position Overview:

The Associate Portfolio Manager for Direct Investments plays a pivotal role within the Private Equity team at CalSTRS, contributing to one of the largest private equity programs globally. This role involves collaborating with esteemed general partners, advisors, and consultants to drive investment success.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Transaction Management & Portfolio Oversight: Conduct thorough due diligence and underwriting for co-investments and various transaction types, evaluating financial performance, management quality, investment merits, risks, and market potential. Enhance the investment due diligence process to align with the expedited timelines of co-investment transactions.

2. Performance Measurement: Analyze and provide insights on the private equity co-investment portfolio's development over time, monitoring risk and performance against established benchmarks. Regularly review program-wide performance and recommend adjustments as necessary.

3. Program Strategy Development: Assist in crafting a comprehensive strategy for the co-investment program, ensuring alignment with the overall investment objectives of CalSTRS. Identify and map co-investment opportunities to leverage organizational strengths.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will possess relevant professional experience in private markets, demonstrating a solid track record in direct investment and portfolio management. Professional certifications such as CFA, CCIM, FRM, CIMA, or CAIA may be advantageous.
