Position Overview

The Senior Manager of Financial Reporting plays a crucial role in the preparation and evaluation of all external financial disclosures for the organization. This position ensures that accounting policies and controls align with GAAP standards, serves as the primary liaison with external auditors, provides accounting assistance to internal finance teams, and supports the oversight of subsidiary and affiliate accounting and finance functions. In this role, the Senior Manager acts as the GAAP accounting subject matter expert for the organization.

Job Responsibilities

+ Oversee and coordinate the quarterly schedule for external reporting, which includes: reporting obligations and timelines, investor communications, pre-call assessments, script evaluations, and external audit reviews.

+ Prepare and assess monthly and quarterly financial statement consolidations in compliance with GAAP, manage quarterly financial statement submissions, and prepare presentations for the Board of Directors and external auditors.

+ Facilitate communication with and provide support to external auditors.

+ Conduct technical research and resolve complex accounting matters through discussions with management and drafting memoranda, assess newly issued accounting standards and their implications for the organization, collaborate with external auditors, and relay accounting updates to internal accounting teams.

+ Maintain and revise the organization's accounting policies to ensure adherence to applicable accounting standards.

+ Ensure that controls and internal audit activities are executed by leading quarterly assessments of balance sheet reconciliations, preparing intricate account reconciliations, and documenting compliance with company policies and procedures.

+ Assist in the quarterly Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet forecasting process.

+ Recruit, supervise, and develop team members, including setting objectives, evaluating performance, and providing training and development opportunities.

Work Environment

+ Office: Comfortable office temperature (65F to 75F).

+ Open to hybrid or fully remote candidates. Fully remote candidates should be located in the New England area and be willing to come onsite periodically.

Required Skills

+ Specialized Knowledge: Proficiency in financial systems and software (e.g., GL package, financial reporting systems) and advanced Excel skills.

+ Special Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

+ CPA License Required

Experience Requirements

+ Minimum of 7 years of professional or corporate accounting experience.

+ Proven experience in team management is essential.

+ At least 2 years of experience with ASC 842 lease accounting is required.

+ Public accounting experience with a Big 4 or regional firm is preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from the American Institute of CPAs and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Master's Degree in Accounting.
