Job Title: Superintendent - Interior Construction

Layton Construction Inc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Superintendent to join our team. As a key member of our interior construction team, you will be responsible for the daily operation of a job site, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Champion The Layton Way by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
  • Ensure that Constructing with Integrity is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
  • Study specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.
  • Interact with the Project Manager to determine the project schedule and develop look ahead schedules to assess progress and spot upcoming issues.
  • Coordinate the pre-construction meeting with the Project Manager prior to mobilization.
  • Direct procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
  • Ensure all parties involved with the project are informed of construction issues and progress.
  • Work with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within the project work force.
  • Confer with supervisory and engineering personnel and/or inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that work conforms to specifications and construction schedules.
  • Manage the project based on progress reports, materials used, and costs and adjust work schedules accordingly.
  • Work in conjunction with project manager in preparing the Project Management Plan (PMP).
  • Ensure that company policies, such as safety policies, quality standards, equal opportunity, and others, are implemented consistently.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction or related field or equivalent experience of at least 10 years commercial construction demonstrating knowledge of construction processes.
  • Understand and apply building codes and other design requirements correctly and read blueprints accurately.
  • Has finish carpentry skills relevant to commercial interior work; install finishes to specifications as needed.
  • Administrative skills: monitors the progress and coordination of work activities; keeps other members of the organization informed of progress and problems.
  • Management skills: establishes techniques to effectively and proactively monitor and supervise the work of subordinates, follows up on the results of delegated assignments, and is a team player that works well with other people.
  • Problem-solving ability: finds and uses relationships between data from different sources to formulate alternative solutions.
  • Plans effectively: establishes courses of action for self and for others; allocates resources and assigns personnel; uses time efficiently; is personally well-organized.
  • Shows initiative: actively tries to influence events to achieve goals, works well with minimal supervision, strives to achieve goals beyond minimal levels of performance.
