Audit Specialist

The Internal Auditor plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity and compliance of financial operations within Lea County State Bank.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
50% - Audit Execution: Plan, conduct, and document comprehensive audits across various functions, ensuring thorough reporting and management feedback.
Areas subject to annual review include, but are not limited to: Funds/Wire Transfers, Investments, Interest Rate Risk Management, Anti-Money Laundering, Loan Operations, Mortgage Servicing, Deposit Operations, Information Technology, Electronic Banking, and Customer Information Security.
25% - Risk Management Support: Stay informed about the strategic goals of the bank and assist in identifying potential risks. Collaborate with management to develop effective controls and systems.
Conduct audits aligned with management objectives and provide recommendations for improvements in:
- Internal control frameworks
- Regulatory compliance
- Accounting practices
- Operational policies
- Customer service standards
20% - Special Projects: Undertake special assignments, including support for external auditors and regulatory reviews. Ensure timely completion of reports for management and the Board.
5% - Community Engagement: Participate in business development initiatives and contribute to community service through involvement in local organizations.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The following qualifications are necessary:
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or three to five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience that meets the requirements.
This position mandates ongoing professional development, which may include in-house training, online courses, self-directed study, and external training opportunities, potentially involving travel.
