Position Overview:

The 1:1 School LPN/LVN plays a crucial role in identifying and addressing health issues among students within the educational environment. This position focuses on promoting the overall health and wellness of students while adhering to state education regulations and the LPN/LVN scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administers first aid and medically prescribed treatments as necessary.
  • Ensures the security and proper management of health supplies and medications.
  • Conducts follow-up assessments on students as required.
  • Communicates with parents regarding their children's health needs.
  • Maintains accurate records of immunizations, health assessments, and other pertinent health information.
  • Recognizes signs of abnormal growth and development, as well as symptoms of illness, and discusses findings with parents.
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive health records for each student.
  • Fosters positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Provides support for students' medical needs during transportation when applicable.

Qualifications:

  • Valid LPN/LVN license in the state of practice.
  • Current PPD or Chest X-Ray documentation.
  • Preferred: One year of professional nursing experience in a school environment.
  • Preferred: Experience in pediatric nursing.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Strong understanding of medical conditions and treatment protocols.
  • Knowledge of child development and growth patterns.
  • Familiarity with public health issues and treatment procedures in collaboration with health and social service agencies.
  • Awareness of relevant Federal, State, and Local regulations governing school health services.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders, including supervisors, colleagues, and parents; proficiency in English is required.
  • Preferred: Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
