Position Overview
As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will be an integral part of our healthcare team, ensuring that patients receive the highest level of service. This role is essential in facilitating patient interactions and providing support throughout their healthcare journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage patient registration, scheduling, and pre-registration for various healthcare services.
- Inform patients about their insurance benefits, assist with eligibility verification, and prepare cost estimates.
- Conduct thorough interviews to gather essential demographic, insurance, and financial information.
- Coordinate service appointments, ensuring accurate communication of scheduling details to patients and healthcare providers.
- Assist departments in preparing for patient visits by completing necessary questionnaires.
- Utilize screening tools to identify potential payer sources for self-pay patients.
- Direct patients to financial counseling services as needed.
- Generate necessary documentation such as Advanced Beneficiary Notices (ABN) and Assumption of Financial Responsibility (AFR).
- Ensure proper handling of physician orders through scanning and indexing.
- Cross-train to support various patient access functions across the organization.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One year of experience in customer service or relevant education and training.
- Strong data entry skills and familiarity with medical terminology.
- Proficient in computer applications and practice management systems.
- Experience in a hospital or clerical environment is preferred.
