Job Opportunity: The National Building Museum is seeking a graduate-level intern to assist with the inventory and rehousing of the Northwestern Terra Cotta collection.

Job Description:

The Northwestern Terra Cotta collection consists of over 60,000 architectural drawings dating from 1900 to 1956. The drawings are organized by date and project, but the drawings from 1926 to 1956 need to be inventoried and rehoused in new folders and flat file drawers.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Collections Manager and Senior Registrar to organize, (re)catalogue, and photograph new acquisitions
  • Enter data into excel spreadsheets for bulk upload into the Museum's collections management database and collections website
  • Research into the history and use of specific tools, as needed

Requirements:

  • Candidates must be enrolled in or a recent graduate of a graduate program
  • Previous experience with museum collections preferred
  • Knowledge of collections management databases, preferably PastPerfect
  • Knowledge of proper archival and collections management techniques
