The National Building Museum is seeking a graduate-level intern to assist with cataloging new acquisitions to the Museum's collection. The successful candidate will work closely with the Collections Manager and Senior Registrar to organize, catalogue, and photograph new acquisitions, and will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of artifacts. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience in collections management and to contribute to the Museum's mission to inspire curiosity about the world we design and build.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Collections Manager and Senior Registrar to organize, catalogue, and photograph new acquisitions
- Enter data into excel spreadsheets for bulk upload into the Museum's collections management database and collections website
- Research into the history and use of specific tools, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Candidates must be enrolled in or recent graduate from a graduate program
- Previous experience with museum collections preferred
- Knowledge of collections management databases, preferably PastPerfect
- Knowledge of proper archival and collections management techniques
- Self-starter that can work independently
- Be creative and a problem solver
- Ability to work well in a team environment
