Job Summary

As a key member of our donation process team, you will be responsible for managing the organ donation process from donor referral to organ recovery and follow-up. This role requires a high level of clinical expertise, emotional intelligence, and the ability to work effectively with donor families, medical staff, and transplant teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate potential organ donors for suitability, including review of medical history, lab data, and family dynamics.
  • Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations to determine donor suitability.
  • Coordinate healthcare personnel's participation in organ/tissue donation process.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant policies, regulations, and standards.
  • Coordinate the medical management of potential organ donors, including maintaining donor's hemodynamic stability.
  • Provide compassionate support and information to potential or current donor families.
  • Organize and facilitate the organ recovery process, including scheduling operating room time and arranging transportation logistics.
  • Assist surgical teams during the organ recovery procedure.
  • Obtain, store, and distribute adequate samples for tissue typing and organ/tissue placement.
  • Coordinate with transplant centers and the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) to allocate organs to suitable recipients.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field preferred.
  • 2 years of clinical healthcare-related experience required.
  • Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CTPC) required or must be obtained within one year of meeting CTPC minimum eligibility requirements.
