About the Job

The Deputy Probation Officer II is a critical role in the probation services team, responsible for conducting thorough investigations and providing field supervision to adult and juvenile probationers. This position requires a high level of professionalism, adaptability, and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct probation presentence investigations for the courts
  • Provide field supervision to adult and juvenile probationers
  • Develop and implement cognitive behavioral therapy programs for clients and their families
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and other stakeholders to ensure effective case management
Requirements
  • Must be fully trained as a Deputy Probation Officer as mandated by California's Board of State and Community Corrections
  • Must have a minimum of six months experience performing county probation field investigative or field supervision work in the state of California
  • Must meet State of California requirements for appointment to a peace officer position
  • Must have less than a three-year break in such service on the date of appointment to an Orange County position

  • Extensive professional work experience and/or knowledge in the following competencies:

      • Knowledge of laws, policies, and procedures related to working with youth
